Adelaide MaxFax
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Specialist Implant Centre

Adelaide MaxFax is a small team of friendly and approachable surgeons, nurses and administrative staff who at all times are 100% patient focused.

Our aim is to provide our patients with a stress free and smooth transition between initial consultation, surgery, recovery and ongoing review if necessary. We will endeavour to provide the highest level of surgical care to our patients at every stage of their treatment journey.

Our attention to detail is what makes us stand out from other practices.

COVID-19 - Safe Plan

At Adelaide MaxFax we are committed to keeping our environment as safe as possible. We continue to adapt to the changing COVID-19 recommendations within SA. As legislation has changed, so too have our COVID-19 protocols.

Screening measures remain in place for all patients, staff, doctors, carers/support people and contractors.

Appropriate social distancing practices should be observed by all persons in the facility.

Masks are no longer mandatory in specialist medical rooms. However, if you are in a high risk category, or if you have cold/flu symptoms, we encourage you to wear a mask.

Please advise our staff if you have cold/flu symptoms. A Rapid Antigen Test may be required prior to an oral examination, or oral examination may be limited.

For patients who are scheduled for surgery in hospital, please contact the hospital directly for their most current pre-operative requirements, conditions and policies regarding surgery and COVID-19. See Locations for hospital contact information.

All patients having surgery in our rooms at Adelaide MaxFax (regardless of their vaccination status and reason for admission) will be required to undertake an on site Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to their procedure.

If your RAT result is positive for COVID-19 it is likely that you have COVID-19 and your surgery will be postponed.  It is recommended that you isolate for 7 days and lodge your results with SA Health.

If you test positive for COVID-19 in the weeks leading up to your surgery, please phone us to discuss your treatment plan. Most anaesthetists will not administer anaesthetic for 4 weeks following a positive COVID-19 test result. We will work with you to find a suitable date for your procedure.

Our services

Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth in the jaws.

The reasons for losing teeth can be varied, but no matter what the cause, their loss can impact on both appearance and function.

Dentoalveolar Surgery

Dentoalveolar surgery involves that part of the jaws (the alveolus) that contains or has contained teeth.

This surgery is either undertaken under general anaesthesia in a hospital, or in a clinic under local anaesthesia, with or without sedation.

Wisdom Teeth

Often there’s not enough space for wisdom teeth to emerge through the gums easily.

In these cases the tooth may become wedged or ‘impacted’.

Orthognathic Surgery

Orthognathic surgery, also called corrective jaw surgery, is performed to correct a wide range of major and minor facial skeletal and dental abnormalities including malalignment of the upper and lower jaws and teeth.

Temporomandibular Joint Surgery

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery is carried out to treat conditions that effect the joint where the jaw connects to the skull.

Salivary Gland Surgery

Salivary gland surgery may involve procedures on either the major or minor salivary glands of the head, neck and mouth to treat infections, benign tumours or cancers of the salivary glands.

Craniofacial Trauma Surgery

Craniofacial Trauma Surgery involves treatment of a wide range of injuries to the soft tissues and / or bones of the face and skull caused by injury.

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Surgery

Obstructive sleep apnoea surgery is carried out to open the upper airway to correct the anatomical causes of upper airway obstruction.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

A broad term covering surgery carried out to restore natural form and function to the face as a result of deformity, trauma or cancer.

Head and Neck Cancer Surgery

Head and neck cancer surgery treats various malignancies of the head, neck and mouth.

The Latest Technology

The 3Shape TRIOS® 3 intraoral scanner enables us to quickly and easily take digital impressions of the upper and lower jaws and teeth with absolutely minimal patient discomfort.

We accept referrals whether you are a dentist, dental practice, medical practitioner or a medical practice.

The team at Adelaide MaxFax is always happy to help.
